It seems everyone's worked on an exoskeleton (even I did at ADL) and despite how cool it would be to give soldiers the added strength, or elderly the improved safety, science can't get past the power-to-weight thing. It's just that human muscle is so much more efficient than any mechanical system that the power supply required for an exoskeleton outweighs its benefits many times over.
None the less you can read about some new developments and big promises here.
