Doctor on Your Wrist
It may not be well known that Israel is a major source of technology innovation. Of note is that Motorola's 2nd largest R&D facility is near Tel Aviv.
Another Israeli company; Tadiran Spectralink, has create a portable "“mini-hospital"” to make life easier for at-risk patients, chronically ill patients and people requiring nursing care. The device uses biosensors to continuously check vital functions; e.g. pulse, cardiac rhythm and blood oxygen values. These measurements are then transmitted, via cellular, to a medical center for further analysis. It also has the ability send emergency calls or place mobile calls to predefined people or call centers.
