Not just the stuff of science fiction anymore, the Tanaka Auto Door consists of multiple individual slats that slide open just wide enough for your body to pass through. Each slat has an integrated a sensor that determines how much it needs to open in order to allow you to enter or exit. Besides being v-cool, Tanaka claims the door helps keep inside air from escaping (saving on heating and air conditioning costs), as well as helping to prevent pollen and such from entering through their doorway
